Hand and machine work.

 

Learn how to foundation piece the block by machine and then decorate with a variety of hand embroidery stitches.

 

The 12 inch block may be used as a wallhanging, a bag front or the beginnings of a larger quilt.

This class takes the beginner through the basics of machine quilting.

 

Topics covered include basting, straight line and free motion quilting, threads and tension, marking the quilt and managing a large quilt on the home sewing machine.

Machine Quilting

 

This class is for machine quilters who already know how to baste a quilt and do some free motion quilting. We will learn some more background filler stitches to use in place of stippling.

We will be quilting border designs and discuss making our own designs.

 

After the class you will have samples of many different ideas that you can use for years to come.

Hand work

 

Learn the basic crazy patchwork stitches while making a cover for an  A5 visual diary or notebook.

 

There are two versions of the cover, one for beginners who are new to embroidery and a more advanced version for those who know the basic stitches and would like to learn some new different stitches.

Machine work

 

Crazy Quilting by machine using free motion thread painting. The base is foundation pieced and the stitches and motifs are done on a basic sewing machine. Three different methods of thread painting will be taught.

Machine work.

 

Learn how easy it is to create butterflies and insects to decorate your quilts.

 

This technique can be done on even the most basic of sewing machines. You do not need a fancy embroidery machine because you sew the motifs with the free motion darning foot.

 

You will learn 3 different methods of free machine thread painting. Free form cutting and drawing techniques will aslo be discussed.

 

This class is suitable for all levels but is a wonderful start for those wanting to break away from following patterns and beginning art quilters.

 

 

Hand applique 

 

This class covers three ways to hand appliqué, needleturn, reverse appliqué and freezer paper applique.

This 26½" x 26½" (67cm x 67cm) wall hanging is suitable for beginners to advanced quilters.
